Scripture |
24:30-34 |
I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of one who lacks wisdom. I saw that thorns had grown up all over it, the ground was covered with weeds, and its stone wall was broken down. When I saw this, I gave careful consideration to it; I received instruction from what I saw: "A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax, and your poverty will come like a bandit, and your need like an armed robber." |

25:11, 12 |
Like apples of gold in settings of silver, so is a word skillfully spoken. Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover to the ear of the one who listens. |
27:9 |
Ointment and incense make the heart rejoice, likewise the sweetness of one's friend from sincere counsel. |
31: 21, 26 |
Who can find a wife of noble character? … She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. |

The Value of Highlighting
I provided an early draft of A Topical Treasury of Proverbs to a woman that reads Proverbs every morning. Her biggest question was, "Why did you include this verse here?". Once I pointed out the word that qualified it for that topic, she was satisfied.
I appreciate her input and that is what led to the use of highlighting; it helps make each of the 100 topics come alive. As you read through the topic or topics, allow the verses to speak to you about how this may apply to your life.
